Terms & Conditions


Music Collective Scotland Trades also as Music Lessons Angus (MLA) and Music Lessons Dundee (MLD). Please note for the purpose of the T&C’s outlined below, each studio location has different term dates. Music Collective Online students will follow the term date assigned to them according to the location of the teacher providing the lessons. 


 Individual Lessons

1.Trail lessons are available before adherence to the following terms and

conditions. All trial lessons must be paid for at the standard lesson rate

unless stated otherwise as part of enrolment offers. 

2.Payment of lessons are to be paid in advance in 4 week blocks. Payment can be

made through Class for kids booking software, bank transfer or cash. Failure to

pay invoices for lessons taken could result in the termination of lessons.

3.Lessons take place during school term-time. MLA term follows Angus Council and

MLD Dundee City Council. Lessons still take place during long weekends and in

service days. 

4.Lessons that are missed due to illness or any other occurrence are to be paid

in full. 

5.Pre-arranged absence; Students may cancel up to four lessons per year (1 per

term) without being charged. Pupils should inform the Music School of any

lessons they will miss in advance with a minimum of 24hrs notice. If less than

24hrs notice is given then the lesson will be charged in full. Rearranging

lessons is subject to the discretion and availability of your assigned tutor.

6.Lessons that are cancelled by Music Collective Scotland (MLA and MLD) due to

tutor absence will either be rearranged, credited to the next block, or

refunded at your preference.

7.Termination of lessons require 4 weeks notice in writing to Nicole Tonner info@musiccollectivescotland.com.

Lessons in the notice period will be charged in full even if you decide not to

attend lessons in this notice period.

8.Parents/students are responsible for the purchase of any associated costs of

lessons including; instruments, music books and exam entry fees. 

9.Lessons are available on an ad hoc basis during the holidays in consultation

with your teacher. 

10.When a pupil has been enrolled in the School they remain so until formally

withdrawn. Failure to attend lessons does not constitute formal

withdrawal. Lessons will continue to be charged at the normal rate until

written notice has been received & notice period has ended.

11.In the event that a teacher leaves employment with MCS, a suitably qualified

temporary teacher will cover lessons until a permanent teacher has been

appointed. 

12. Parents have a responsibility to inform the Music School of any additional support needs or learning difficulties that would cause a barrier to participation in music classes. 

13.The Music School reserves the right to refuse admittance to disruptive pupils

and will inform parents of any difficulties immediately. 

14.Parents are responsible for the safe drop off and collection of children to

music lessons. MCS will not be responsible for children out-with lesson

times. 


Music Classes

4.Classes that are missed due to illness or any other occurrence are to be paid

in full. 

5.All classes must be booked in advance. 

6.When a pupil has been enrolled in the School they remain so until formally

withdrawn via email. Failure to attend classes does not constitute formal

withdrawal. 

7.There is no notice period for withdrawal, however, classes paid for will not be

refunded. 

8.Classes cancelled by MLA or MLD will either be refunded or credited to the next

term. 

9.Parents have a responsibility to inform the Music School of any additional

support needs or learning difficulties that would cause a barrier to

participation in music classes. 

10.The Music School reserves the right to refuse admittance to disruptive pupils

and will inform parents of any difficulties immediately.

COVID 19 - Pupil and Parent Responsibilities

Arriving and Leaving the Studio

·      Do not arrive too early to a lesson or class.

·      Drop off and collection for classes to be outside (with

exception of baby and toddler). Teachers will escort class members in and out

of the building safely. Please ensure you are on time to collect your child.

·      When waiting outside the building, please maintain a 2m distance from others out

with your household.

·      All studio users to use hand sanitiser on entrance and exit to the building.

·      During peak times we have limited waiting space for parents. It would be appreciated

during these times if you could drop and collect, wait outside or in your car.


During a Class or Lesson

·     All pupils must Please wear a face covering (unless

exempt). Under 18's can remove their face covering when seated. 1-1 singing pupils must still use a face covering during the lesson.

·      Wear warm clothing – due to increased ventilation efforts the studio will be cooler than usual. Please wrap up. Baby and toddlers may bring their own blanket to place on mats.

·      Please bring your own instrument, music and pencil to class each week. Shared resources will temporarily no longer be available. (Pianos and keyboards will still be provided). Violins, guitars and ukuleles should be tuned in advance by parents or by pupils where possible. 

·      Sit in a designated seat. Your teacher will assign you a seat which is 2m apart from other class members. Please remain seated throughout your class or lesson unless directed by your teacher/class leader.

·      Keep Your Space All studio users must keep 2m distance from each other at all times. Please help us by talking with children about this in advance. Staff will verbally remind students regularly of this. Baby and toddlers do not need to socially distance from each other.*

·      Refrain from using the toilet if possible. Our toilets will still be available, however, please help us reduce the number of users by going to the toilet before coming to the studio if possible. Particularly for younger children.  

·      We fully understand younger children may not know what to do in all situations and staff will verbally support them in maintaining a safe distance and help establish routines that will support children in complying with safety precautions.

 

Covid-19 Symptoms

A pupil must not attend lessons if they have any of the following symptoms;

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

·      a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

·      a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

·      a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Any pupils with symptoms or are self-isolating that are receiving 1-1 lessons can take a lesson on zoom. Any class pupil who cannot attend should inform us and we will send music/tasks home.
